Cities for People
De internationale versie van de Instrumentenwijzer.
"The right to adequate housing is a human right under international law. That is why it is incorporated in the UN Habitat Agenda. Cities for People is a Habitat Platform initiative that aims to put the Habitat Agenda into practice, both within and outside the Netherlands.
Housing is a global issue. Particularly in and around towns and cities. The problems include vast cities surrounded by enormous slums, a lack of drinking water and poor sanitation, poverty, disease and hunger. Even in the Netherlands we have rundown neighbourhoods, unemployment and segregation, while poverty and disadvantage seem to be from generation to generation.
Cities for People describes a wide range of projects and initiatives designed to get the best out of people living in disadvantaged situations. How do we teach them to improve their own quality of life?
We have also identified the patterns common to these projects and translated them into tools that can be applied in a wide variety of situations."
